Itinerary - Ausangate 7 lakes tour

Day 1: Cusco – Ocongate – Pacchanta – Ausangate 7 Lakes – Cusco

The Scenic Drive to the Andes (4:00 am – 7:30 am)

Your adventure begins with a convenient hotel pick-up in Cusco’s Historic Center. We travel in a comfortable, private vehicle through the South Valley. Watch the sunrise over traditional Andean villages as we head toward Pacchanta (13,450 ft / 4,100 m), where a delicious, high-energy local breakfast awaits to fuel your journey.

The Ascent into the Wilderness (8:00 AM – 12:30 PM)

It’s time to hit the trail. Led by our expert bilingual guide, we begin a gentle but steady ascent. As we hike under the massive shadow of Mt. Ausangate (the highest peak in the Cusco region at 20,945 ft / 6,384 m), we will visit each of the 7 turquoise lakes: Azulcocha, Otorongococha, Pucacocha, Alqacocha, Qomercocha, Orcocha, and Chinaococha.

Safety Check: We maintain a steady, comfortable pace with frequent hydration and oxygen checks to ensure everyone enjoys the high-altitude scenery safely.

Panoramic Views & High-Andes Photography (12:30 PM – 1:30 PM)

After reaching our highest viewpoint at 15,900 ft (4,850 m), you'll have ample time to capture the perfect shot of the jagged glaciers reflecting in the crystalline waters. This is the moment to breathe in the purest air in Peru before we begin our scenic descent back to the village.

Soaking & Celebration in Pacchanta (1:30 PM – 3:30 PM)

Reward your muscles! Upon returning to the local community, you can soak in the natural medicinal hot springs with a direct view of the glaciers you just explored. Afterward, we enjoy a fresh, organic Andean lunch prepared by our local chef (with vegetarian and gluten-free options available).

Return Drive to Cusco (4:00 PM – 7:00 PM)

Relax and reflect on your journey during the comfortable drive back. We will drop you off directly at your hotel or the main square (Plaza de Armas), arriving in time for you to enjoy a late dinner in Cusco.
